Bernie S. Siegel, M.D., as you know, through his many books, workshops, lectures and his irresistible style is an internationally known and respected figure. He was the first medical doctor in modern times to open up the door of self-healing. When Love, Miracles & Medicine was published twenty or so years ago, it was radical — a medical doctor, a surgeon, bringing in the humanness and spirit of man into modern medicine, redefining medicine as a healing art, a joint venture of doctor, patient, and spirit, pioneering the relationship between healing and the power of our thoughts and the power of God. Bernie has been such an advocate for that simple sweet inner voice within us all, and, consequently, Heavenletters.

Who could have known, when I first read Love, Miracles & Medicine so many years ago, that there would be such a thing as Heavenletters, that I could ever be a part of something so wonderful, and that Bernie would be key in making it accessible to the world. And yet it is all true.

You will remember that earlier Bernie offered to write an introduction to a book of Heavenletters. Now the gift of a foreword from him has grown into an introduction to each chapter. Now Bernie is contributing his name and his love of God into a combined Heaven/Bernie book.

A couple of weeks ago, Bernie hired Andrea Hurst, a publishing consultant, to evaluate the success of such a combined book. After presenting Heaven selections and Bernie comments to the editors who work for her and to book-buyers, Andrea is as excited about this idea as we are. Listen to this — everyone, everyone she showed samples to LOVED it. Wow! And she did too!

Andrea will represent this venture, and she will use her skill and talent to put a proposal together and find a worthy publisher. Bernie and I are delighted to have Andrea as agent. I look forward to working with her. And, as you can imagine, I am so appreciative of Bernie's time and attention on Heaven, and grateful to God for putting all of this together, and for you who stir Heavenletters by reading it every day.

There is an important book publisher expo on May 1 at which Andrea will introduce the proposed book to publishers. That is only two months away. We have our work cut out for us.

Andrea suggested that the book be organized similarly to Kalhil Gibran's The Prophet. By theme. If you have thoughts of themes to include in this book, I'd sure like to have them. And if you know of specific Heavenletters that fit under the themes, that will help too. Please send your thoughts along.

Also, we need to increase the readership expedentially. Obviously, a publisher will perk up when he hears that Heaven has a substantial readership. But we don't want just a long list of subscribers. We want people who will read Heavenletters and expand its energy.

For a limited time only, I think we need to throw Heaven open to new readers.

If you know people who will read Heavenletters, let's offer them a gift subscription. If it's easy for you and you would like to subsidize their subscription, wonderful. Or, of course, Heaven gladly will. For a limited time only, I think we'd better offer free six-month subscriptions to new readers.

I hope that doesn't make any of the tried and true readers of Heaven like you feel put upon. I would never want that. Please tell me if you feel that way.

The Beyond Rubies Conference 2002 in Cedar Rapids is tomorrow. As of three days ago, thirty-three people had already signed up.

Speaking of Heaven's influence, Shahid Khatai, India, has been at it again! On his own volition, he sent out Heavenletters to spiritual notables, asking for endorsements for Heaven's book. He got another fabulous one which you will see below. I'm not sure how Shahid does it, but he is great at opening doors. I don't believe he has a formula unless you call writing from your heart a formula.

Rev. Margaret Weiner, Iowa, drove three hours to come down here to proof the galley of the Heaven Book. This was no small undertaking. She stayed overnight and we worked morning, noon, and night. Margaret corrected the printed galley, and I transferred the changes needed into the Adobe file. The program does not allow me to make the changes, just note them. So the designer has his work cut out for him. When he sends back the corrected Adobe file, Margaret will come down again and will proof once more to make sure that the book is ready to go to press.

Yesterday I met with George Foster, the book cover designer, www.fostercovers.com, who is now working on the back cover and spine design.

An unedited galley was sent to David Hawkins, M.D., Ph.d., Author, Power vs. Force. In terms of the cover, all we're waiting for is Dr. Hawkins' endorsement.

As you know, Dr. Hawkins has already said some wonderful things about Heavenletters. He said they come from the "… same Heavenly Source as A Course in Miracles, i.e. The Voice for God". He called them "beautiful" and "useful" and he said I was "like a Heavenly Messenger." (Of course, God says we are all His messengers!) At the time, I asked Dr. Hawkins if it were fine with him to use on the website, in Heaven News and with agents and publishers etc. He said, "Yes, fine, okay," but I hadn't thought to ask about a book cover. When the publishing of the book started to become a reality, I wrote to Dr. Hawkins again, and this time he said yes again!

He asked to see a galley of the book. I sent him an unedited manuscript in early August, but no word since. So I was chewing my nails.

Of all the world-famous people I can think of, Bernie's and Dr. Hawkins' endorsements mean the most to me. Their fame and influence are great, but that's not why. I value Bernie and Dr. Hawkins for themselves and for the integrity of their work. I value them tremendously.

Last Saturday, Barbara Orsow, a long-time Heavenreader and blessor of Heaven from Oregon, went down to Santa Monica to attend a Dr. Hawkins' seminar. About 600 people attended. Barbara had a chance to ask Dr. Hawkins' assistant about the promised endorsement, and Barbara told me the assistant said that Dr. Hawkins does not usually give endorsements. My heart sank. Had I somehow misunderstood?

But don't be dismayed! The long and the short of it is that another assistant of Dr. Hawkins called this morning. She knew about Dr. Hawkins' interest in Heavenletters, for she had typed his letters to me. She said it is true that Dr. Hawkins doesn't usually endorse books, but Heavenletters is an exception. Wow!

But the other news is that the Heaven manuscript I had sent Priority Mail to Dr. Hawkins was lost in the mail!

But hang on. All is well. I will get another manuscript mailed out to Dr. Hawkins soon.

Had a dream last night God would like me to share with you:
I was walking down the street in Manhattan and looked up and saw a HUGE poster of the cover of your book that covered the entire front-side of a building. I think it was a bookstore, not sure. I remember smiling as I walked by it knowing that it was right and I was thrilled at Heaven's success!

The first thing I must tell you, and I am heartbroken about it, is that since the last Heaven News, I have received many calls and e-mails from dear Dr. Hawkins' office.

Today Susan, Mrs. Hawkins, called me and regretted having to say that, because of events having nothing whatsoever to do with Heavenletters and their high regard for them, Dr. Hawkins must ask me to keep his letters to myself, to be encouraged by them, to know that he calibrated Heavenletters, that the calibration is very high, that it will become a success on its own by word of mouth with or without his public endorsement.

He wanted me to be sure to know there is no change in his high regard for Heavenletters, but because of recent difficulties they are experiencing, copyright laws, and his attorney's clear-cut instructions, he can no longer give permission to anyone to use his words, not from his books and not from personal letters, and he regrets that he must withdraw his previously-given permission.

Susan emphasized that Dr. Hawkins never writes personal letters and to be heartened that he did write on behalf of Heavenletters and not to be saddened that his words can no longer be shared.

My regard for Dr. Hawkins and his work is high, which adds to my disappointment. Please know I recommend his books and tapes to you without reservation (www.veritaspub.com).

The Heavenletter that was written this morning and which will appear September 7 is about disappointment and cures for it! God must have known, the Rascal! And I'm going to reread that Heavenletter right now!

You must know how much I already love and appreciate Bernie Siegel and all his great work. He was an early pioneer in body, mind, and spirit medicine when it was not fashionable. Nothing daunts Bernie. And he has been an incredible friend to Heavenletters for over three years, a faithful reader, critic, mentor and so much fun! His first best-selling book was Love, Medicine & Miracles. I first read it over twenty years ago, and it affected me deeply. All his books do. The latest I have read is Help Me to Heal. So the world people are wiser than us to rave about Heaven? Why are you worrying now? The Heavenletters are having more subscribers. First edition is under printing but we will have to prepare for second edition too because I think the first edition books will sell like hot cakes. So, I think you will be busy with the second edition printing works and with the new spiritual writing for new books. This is the time to be happy. God has been incredible Friend to Heavenletters for years. Here we should know that the Book of Heavenletters is going to be glorified. Why are you worrying now?

I am very happy because of Heavenletters. Why? Before I received The Heavenletters I was more scared to use the word "love", because these four letters can be misused by people. Now we can use the word of "love" very frankly, because this love belongs to spiritual people through Heavenletters. Love is precious in the world which God had kept for us before the Earth was formed. We all have one soul and it reveals God's love and the abundant love flow from God.
Let's praise our God who is the real One Who loved us and sent us all. The Book of Heavenletters (Love letters from God) appeared in this world 3118 years ago. It had two titles then: "Love letters from God" and another "Love letters from his lover." (Here lover means children of God.) These earlier works were written by King Solomon in The Songs of Solomon. Now lucky peoples are getting Love letters from God. We do not know and we cannot understand how many peoples are writing Love letters to God. This is happening more because of Heavenletters. My heartiest thanks.

Did you know there is a growing Heavenletters "underground"? I love it! Often when new subscribers say who sent them a Heavenletter, more and more they name someone who is not a subscriber! I wonder how the non-subscriber heard about them! Maybe from you! This happened recently as far away as Israel.

The underground is alive and well in Fairfield, Iowa, too, where I live. I went into a beauty salon yesterday to put up a poster for Saturday's book signing. When I showed the poster to the owner, she said: "Oh, a customer told me about you. She said you had a punk hairdo and had written this great book." When I asked who the customer was, the owner named someone in town that I have never heard of!

I'm so happy that God's Words are shared. That is just right. Once upon a time, Allan, the host of the Bridging Heaven and Earth Show, had thirty people who received Heavenletters through him! He finally turned them over and they became official. That's good too because then, when someone asks me how many subscribers, I can say a bigger number. So, if you are part of the underground, will email me?!

I am pursuing another possible avenue to bring the Heaven book to the attention of huge numbers. Books Are Fun, owned by Reader's Digest, sets up book fairs around the country, in corporation meeting rooms, in hospital lobbies etc. The person I need to talk to will be back in her office Monday. If this person sees the marketability of the book, the company will buy a few books, do some kind of field test and then, God willing!, will offer to buy Heaven's book in huge quantities.

I hope everyone knows that the promotion of Heaven's book is about bringing God's words out to as many people as possible as quickly as possible and is not about commercial success. God said long ago that Heavenletters would reach millions, not thousands, but millions. How this will happen, I don't know.

1. I sent out book promotions to 35 online Bookstores. In my opinion that is too slow. I think we need to advertise in E-zines so we can reach thousands of people. Say, an ad costs $25 per issue. Those subscribers who can afford and feel moved to help Heaven, could buy the Ad and place it on our Behalf. Or we could place it. I will supply the names and rates of Prominent sites Gladly.
2. I also humbly suggest advertising for volunteer help on Heaven's website. We can list all the help Heaven needs like Bookkeeper and Web Designer etc. Then those people who are interested can come forward and help.

Obstacles to Receiving Heaven's Book

Wouldn't you think that it would be easy to receive the pure inspiring uplifting book of Heavenletters, Love Letters from God, Book One, without any obstacles? You may remember from the last issue that Ali Reza Salamat, Civil Engineer in Iran, had received a notice from the post office saying that his package from America had arrived. Due to a holiday, however, the post office was closed for the week. Now read the amazing sequel:

"Yesterday I went to the post office, They showed me the precious book from a distance, but they said I should call next week because the contents must be checked by another office. I was upset, but this is done because a great number of non-ethical CDs, books, drugs, and photos, are smuggled to our country, with the purpose of spoiling the youth. Anyway, I have to be patient."

When I, Gloria, first read this, I thought: How can there be obstacles with something so pure?" And then I thought that maybe God wants officials to have a chance to read it!

Yesterday I gave Heavenletters, Love Letters from God, Book One, to Rev. Michael Beckwith at Agape International Spiritual Center of Truth, Los Angeles, CA. This transdenominational church has a congregation of 7,000. Rev Michael immediately said that it should be used during the church's meditative reading period. "We'll have to have her come out and give a book signing."
When he held the book in his hands, he said, "I see my Self in this book." He told me to give you hugs and kisses on his behalf. Also, asked if your contact information is in the book.

Dear Heavenreaders, Children of God,

Lauren, my daughter, recently went to visit her father in California. I sent a Heaven book along to him with a very nice inscription. Spirituality isn't at the top of my former husband's list and neither am I, so, when Lauren handed him the book, he tossed it aside and said: "I'll never read that." And that was that.

Lauren's father lives in an assisted living facility. In addition to the staff there, a wonderful woman, Michelle, pops in and gives him extra care. She drives him places, does laundry etc. She works full time at a different assisted living facility. Michelle often phones Lauren.

Michelle called Lauren recently to say that she had borrowed the Heaven book, loved it, and was reading it out loud at her full-time job to a patient who also loved it, wants more, but who cannot read due to poor eyesight. Michelle asked Lauren if there any tapes. Lauren, of course, said she would send the Heaven CD.

Furthermore, with my blessing, Lauren told Michelle that she might as well keep the book for herself since Lauren's father isn't reading it. Michelle said, "He's not? Oh, yes, he is. I've caught him at it!"

I love that true story, and Michelle's kindness to the patient brings out how especially meaningful Heavenletters can be for those who are in facilities.

Bev Allen has long wanted to get something going with Heavenletters for The Reading Program for the Blind. She is working so hard and long on her own start-up animal health care business, www.ThePetCheck-up.com, that she can't devote herself to it. Is this a project a Heavenreader might like to take over?

This was a spectacular Heavenletter morning. God didn't know how busy I am and insisted I take down not one Heavenletter but three! Three wonderful ones, I might add.

For years Annette Bradley, California, has been archiving Heavenletters on Heaven's behalf and urging that they be made available on Heaven's site. I just couldn't see the point of it until the Only Worthwhile Reason finally dawned on me.

Another well-known author and leader in the health field, in addition to our dear friend, Dr. Bernie Siegel, has happily written an endorsement of Heavenletters, Love Letters from God, Book One. Not everything goes Heaven's way, however! QVC declined to sell our book for Valentine's Day. And, although I will be flying to North Carolina this Thursday (through the kindness of Julie Babb), plans for book-signings etc. in Raleigh sadly fell through.
